I recently relocated to Tucson this summer. I transferred to the NAU satellite campus for School Counseling and I am starting my second year in the program. My anticipated graduation date is May 2021. In addition, I am certified as a Youth Mental Health First Aid instructor.

I previously taught elementary school (4th and 5th grades) for a total of seven years both in Florida and Arizona. Both schools were Title 1, and I wish to continue a future career as a school counselor in a Title 1 school in Mesa, AZ as my long-term goal.

Furthermore, being a part of the ArizonaLEND fellowship, I hope to incorporate my leadership skills and implement programs in the school for which I plan to work. Some programs that I have in mind are for students with anxiety, depression, PTSD, etc. could have access to therapy dogs at the school as well as training teachers and staff in Youth Mental Health First Aid. A short-term goal of mine is to enroll my dog, Petunia, in therapy dog training and the certification process this year.

I also enjoy hiking and SCUBA diving. I love surrounding myself in nature and visiting national and state parks around the country.
