Mentorship, Supervision, and Feedback for Professionals

Upon completion of this seminar, participants will be able to:

  • Compare and contrast different communication styles and the value of these styles in effective leadership.
  • Discuss the role of effective communication skills in establishing and maintaining trust in the workplace.
  • Describe the elements of an effective feedback model.
  • Practice providing feedback using an evidence-based model.

Communication Personality Styles

  1. Prior to the session, attendees will complete a survey of questions to determine their own DiSC communication style.
  2. Working in small groups, attendees will identify the attributes of different communication styles and learn how to effectively communicate with different styles to solve problems.

Relationship-Centered Communication Skills

  1. PowerPoint slides and small groups will be used to discuss the development and maintenance of trust and relationships in the workplace.
  2. PowerPoint slides will be used to review evidence-based communication skills and principles of active listening.
  3. Working in pairs, attendees will practice active listening and facilitative questioning with each other that can be used in future workplace communications.

Feedback

  1. PowerPoint slides will be used to review the elements of an evidence-based feedback model.
  2. Working in pairs, attendees will practice giving feedback to each other.
