Focus:

• Identify procedures used to identify Autism in medical and                                                 

Specific subtopics:

• Brief review of ASD criteria (diagnostic and educational) and discuss differences.
• Diagnostic assessment tools commonly used in school and medical settings, pros, cons, and challenges of each with special focus on ADOS.
• Use of data for treatment planning
• Discussion of special education eligibility for Autism and other supports that may be available to students with ASD.
• Discussion of services commonly provided within an educational setting for special education students with ASD.
